In 1871 the family resided at 3, Old Heymoorhouse, Shepley, Kirkburton and at Arkenley Lane, Almondbury between 1881 & 1891. Mary died in 1908 in Huddersfield.

He was an Overlooker in 1871 and a Railway Engine Driver between 1881 & 1901 but was retired by 1911.
