He was listed as a Pauper between 1701 and 1706 but in 1711 was a Labourer. After Martha died he married (2) Sarah Saunderson on 12th September 1714 at All Saints Church, Silkstone with Stainborough, Barnsley and had a further child, Joseph. He died in 1747 and on 3rd September 1747 was buried at St Mary Church, Worsbrough.

John married Mary Bramwell on 6th August 1702 at St Michael the Archangel Church, Emley by License and had one child, John. In 1705 he has a court case brought against him and in 1709 wins a court case in the April and is awarded £120 but in the same year, presumably on appeal, loses a court case in the May, which costs him £400. His wife Mary died at a fairly young age, possibly as a result of childbirth so it seems that John remarried in about 1713 or thereabouts and had another eleven children, Mary, Thomas, Stephen, John, Grace, George, Sarah, William, Hannah, Elizabeth & Ruth. I have left the children all as Mary's until I can find the other marriage. A "Widow Hammerton" is recorded as being buried at Emley on 17th January 1742. He died in 1735 at Emley and on 2nd May 1735 was buried at St Michael the Archangel Church.
