Theodore, Herbert and Charles stayed with their mother after their father's death at first in Chesterfield and then with her new husband to Hall End, Polesworth, Tamworth. They attended Unstone board school paying 2d a week for their education. Herbert and Charles went to Polesworth Board School, Tamworth. Charles then went on to Atherstone Grammar School, after which Reuben Allen arranged for him to work at the Thompson & Southwick's Foundry at Tamworth where he had to paint a pit-head winding pulley. Charles did not like the job and his mother, worried about his ear trouble and deafness, arranged for him to be apprenticed as a joiner to his brother in law John Calow. Again he was not happy and moved on to Staveley Ironworks, where he moved on to foreman at Daglish's Iron-furnaces at Ashfordby, Melton Mowbray. In 1911 he was a Joiner and Carpenter and was boarding at 19, North Street, Melton Mowbray. He married Florence Nellie Insley in Melton Mowbray in 1913 and had one child, John Insley. He died on 21st July 1939 at Ashfordby, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. |

Norton married Mary Jane Teal in 1903 in Barnsley and had four children, John Clifford, Frances Ethel, Ronald Melvin & Edna M. In 1911 the family resided at 2, School Street, Darfield, Barnsley and between 1939 & 1948 at Knabbs Hill Farm, Clayton Lane, Dearne, Yorkshire. He started in the Butchery trade by 1891, learning his trade from his Cousin, Alfred Myers and was a Journeyman Butcher in 1901 and a Butcher in 1911. Norton became a Cattle Dealer and Judge of Cattle and eventually was a Master Butcher of Edderthorpe Lane in Darfield but by 1939 had retired as a Bucther. Norton died on 1st June 1948 in Barnsley. |

In 1911 the family resided at ˜Nightingale˜ 37, Shaw Street, Barnsley, Yorkshire and in 1939 at 111, Dodworth Road, Barnsley. He began work in the office of Houghton Main Colliery, Darfield, Barnsley as a Cashier, moving on to the Prince of Wales Colliery at Pontefract, Yorkshire before going back to the Old Silkstone Collieries at Barnsley where he became Colliery Secretary by 1939. Sidney died on 26th October 1962 at 4, Stepney Road, Scarborough. |

He married Ethel Gertrude Anderson in 1907 in the Pontefract district and had three children, Charles John, Norman & Elizabeth. In 1911 the family resided at The Mount, Tanshelf, Pontefract, Yorkshire. He was a Secretary to a Grocers but eventually became a Master Grocer. He was living at 6, Market Place, Pontefract when he died on 16th February 1919 at Pontefract. Theodore was buried on 19th February 1919 at Pontefract. |
