Father : Ephraim Thickett Mother : Jane Ann Hammerton Born : Houghton Le Street, Penshaw, Durham (Apr 1884 - Jun 1884) He was a Scholar in 1891 an Apprentice Butcher in 1901 and a General Labourer in 1911. James married Lottie Dykes presumably in Barnsley, but more likely in Australia. This man is an enigma. According to his mothers death certificate he was born in 1885. However he appears to have been the same James Thickett, supposedly son of John Thickett of Helensburg, aged 21, who enlisted in the 30th Battalion in 1916 and was severely wounded at Passchendale in October 1917. However, John Thickett's death certificate claims he had no children. James was also a Coal Miner at the Metropolitan Mine at Helensburg. James died in 1960. |
