According to the 1881 Census and subsequent Birth and Marriage entries his trade was as a Joiner Carpenter. In 1891 he was listed as a Planing Machine Operator and in 1901 was listed as a Labourer in a Wood Box Shop. William died on 6th April 1910 in the district of Barnsley and was buried at Barnsley Cemetery.

In 1901 he still had the same occupation at 76, Horsedge Street, Oldham, Lancashire where he and Sarah were now living. George died in 1905 in Oldham.
