He was a Coal Miner between 1901 & 1904 but was a Goods Port in 1906 before returning as a Coal Miner by 1911 and also after the war until 1939. During the Great War he was a Stretcher bearer and awarded a DCM for his bravery but was injured in 1916. Whilst working in coal mines he lost 3 fingers on his right hand down to the knuckle. Ellis died in 1975 in Carlton, Barnsley. |
