She died during the Flu epidemic on 16th December 1918 at 42, Gatton Road, Bristol, but was ill for only a week and was buried at Greenbank Cemetery, Bristol. Her husband who had just returned to France from leave, had to be recalled after his return. She worked as a nurse at Beaufort War Hospital.

On 22nd April 1915 he enlisted in the 129th Heavy Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery and served in France in the First World War and was demobbed on 6th February 1919 . After the War he rejoined the Police Force and retired on 22nd December 1926 with an exemplary Police record. Charles married (3)Ada Louisa Burge in 1920. He died of a Heart attack after a Sunday Morning walk to Chewton, Keynsham on 29th June 1936 at Tigne, Keynsham and was buried on 1st July 1936 at Keynsham Cemetery.

Ellis married Elizabeth Jessop on 2nd April 1904 at St John the Baptist Church, Penistone and had eight children, Jack, Titus, Ruth, Thomas, Charlotte, Albert, Ellis & Lily Doreen. In 1906 the family resided at Wigan Row, Thurgoland and at 71, Pontefract Road, Barnsley, Yorkshire in 1911. He was a Coal Miner between 1901 & 1904 but was a Goods Port in 1906 before returning as a Coal Miner by 1911. During the Great War he was a Stretcher bearer and awarded a DCM for his bravery but was injured in 1916. Whilst working in coal mines he lost 3 fingers on his right hand down to the knuckle. Ellis died in 1975 at Carlton.
